Adoption Process
We do adoption visits by appointment, except at our twice monthly adoption fairs! If you are interested in adopting an indoor cat, please fill out and submit an Adoption Questionnaire. Your application will be reviewed, and you will hear back from our Adoptions Coordinator as soon as possible. We will do our best to find a cat who matches what you are looking for!
At Madison Cat Project, we practice an ‘Adopters Welcome’ philosophy in order to remove barriers in the adoption process. Instead of lengthy applications and requirements, we prefer to have meaningful conversations with potential adopters. We want to help you find the right match for you and our cats! We commit to supporting you through this process to make sure the cat you adopt is the right match, and to support you if you have questions or concerns down the road.
Many of our available cats are in foster homes, so you might be connected with the foster parent to arrange an in-person meeting or a virtual meeting, depending on what everyone is comfortable with. After you meet the cat and decide they are the one for you, our staff or foster volunteer will go over the appropriate paperwork with you before you take your furry friend home! It always helps to bring a cat carrier along with you to your meeting if you are planning to bring a cat home the same day! The adoption fee is due at the time of adoption and can be made online, by check, or cash.
